Another day in Paradise

My personal blog about my life and especially my way back to compete in an Ironman Race

still alive

...what a week, again! Finally I am back in some kind of training routine, although the week before the last one only consisted of a 9km run... the last week was 2x bike (1x 1hr, 1x1.5hrs) and 2x run of 45min plus 1x 30min all at some easy pace. Since 3 days I'm helping Steffi Steinberg in her camp - luckily as she caught a virus and couldn't lead her group today. So last 3 days 210km of easy road cycling, - today I couldn't get the whole ride in as a cat, still living was lying in front of us on the road decending from the Betancuria hill, hit by a car awfully. We had to get her to the vet, but there was nothing more he could do than to give her the injection to not suffer longer.
On the plus side, yesterday I picked up some really fast triathletes from mainland, Spain, amongst them I-don't-know-how-many-times-winner of Nice Ironman and Embrunman Marcel Zamora, training for a while now at the Oasis Papagayo. Hope they enjoy their stay and repeat Cool. All right, tomorrow longer run with the camp, but I have to go to the airport as well so I will have to cut it a little...

quick update

today just a quick update, you can probably read it between the lines ... I am still very busy. Which is good - we are overbooked which means a lot of guests, and at the moment a lot of sports groups, which is my job here at the Oasis Papagayo... so today I'll not get any workout in, and not sure if tomorrow neither... yesterday though ran 11km at easy pace and got a 3hr really relaxed mountainbike ride in! We'll have quite a bit of wind tomorrow on the Canaries, so I'm not too bothered by the fact that probably tomorrow I won't be able to get on the bike. We're currently hosting Kristin Möller, Ironman Lanzarote's Champion 2013 during a shooting for Arena and it looks like she'll be coming more frequently in the future. Train happy!

an update again

..finally again a blog entry... it's really busy at the moment... last Sunday worked out the last time until today! (1:50hrs run at some very easy pace, might have been 4:50/km and 2hrs Mountainbike very easy), pinched something a little in my left hamstring and today am back ready to do some easy cycling 1hr-ish soon! Tomorrow will pick up Krristin Möller, winner of Lanzarote's Ironman 2013 race who will stay a week at Oasis Papagayo and in 2 weeks we'll welcome the Finish National Swimming Team here, so there's some well-known athletes enjoying the Canary sun in Fuerteventura's North with us Cool ... Ok off now 1.5hrs Mounty

on the wheels today

..today finally managed to get on the bike for our traditional 50km loop to Caldereta, la Oliva, Lajares and back to Corralejo on the racebike together with local triathletes and Josetxo who's currently helping me to set up an endurance training animation program at Oasis Papagayo - for once there was very little wind, so the ride was very enjoyable Laughing. Later today I will get on the mountainbike for a relaxed spin together with my girl friend. Yesterday ran 70min at about 4:30min/km pace on the bikepaths around Corralejo.

2 more

... Saturday did a 1:30hr mountainbike ride down at the beach-front at base pace and yesterday 21km run at 4:30min/km on the Volcano route together with the growing local triathlon community Laughing. Today will welcome the first swim groups for February - in total more than 30 sports groups will be at Oasis Papagayo Sports & Family this month - it's going to be busy but I will try to sneak away for some workout every day if anyhow possible. From 22nd I am co-organizing a triathlon training camp here, so I will be getting a lot more in during the work-shifts!

last 2 days

...yesterday got a mountainbike ride in - 1:20hrs base pace, will try to find time to look at the video I made at some nice points during the ride, but at the moment it's pretty busy and couldn't have a look at how to cut the video, today had no chance to train until now. If I can make it for an easy jogg I'll post it later, if not - tomorrow is busy again but hopefully I'll not have to be inactive.

Chulo

b2ap3_thumbnail_sports_office.pngMy new office - a wooden "castle", first I thought it'd be a bad idea, but now I am liking it, it's pretty cosy inside and has this cute sign with our brand's represantative, the Papagayo doing all sorts of sports...

Workout today - got a 30km-ish Mountainbike loop in - the wind is back and coming from the north, so the last bit was a good over-gearing workout Smile
